Every training cycle is different

How to build on your accomplishments in a smart way.

Real talk: I bonked H A R D training for my third marathon.

I thought since I’d done it twice before I was all set. But I got too comfortable.

I told myself my body already knew what to do.

I skipped out on consistent strength training.

I didn’t re-test my hydration and nutrition plan during training.

And, the worst?

I didn’t pay attention to what my body was actually saying (read: I was not mentally in it).

Sure, after a few races, your body knows what racing feels like and you know how your training should go. But every training cycle is different. And so is every race.

It’s why beginners AND seasoned marathoners can benefit from working with a running coach.

I’ve helped clients - some of whom even experienced disappointing races like I did - figure out how to adjust their training through changes like…

  • Moving from 1 rest day to 2,

  • Changing up their nutrition,

  • Cutting down on their mileage (yes, this is a thing!), and

  • Focusing more heavily on mental preparedness.

The results?

  • Hitting new PRs!

  • Feeling more recovered,

  • Actually enjoying their training, and

  • Reaching race day with more confidence.
